Schools, Colleges and Universities

At MGpeople we work closely with Schools, Colleges and Universities to deliver bespoke workshops for Students progression into  the World of Work or University.

We have found this is a much-needed delivery and is supported in principle by Ofsted, the government and highlighted in other papers like the Wolf report.

The main content of this delivery is as follows:

Transition Workshop

To provide a bespoke, measured, psychological and behavioural delivery to students preparing for business, apprenticeships and university.

Part one – Realisation (Interaction/discussion/exercises/flip chart)

  • Psychological transition/realisation of change

  • Look at content/results from Survey Monkey (Apply relevant areas to course – check understanding)

  • Expectations of businesses and universities (Flip chart/group working)

  • Discuss objectives of students

Part two – Reflection (Exercises/discussion)

  • Lead in with self-reflection around strengths and weaknesses

  • Brief understand of emotional intelligence (Test/self-aware/regulation/social skills etc)

  • Neuro Linguistic Programming communication model

  • Spiral dynamics (Understanding self/others/organisations)

Part three – Expectation (Employability skills – bespoke delivery over two workshops)

  • Choosing your attitude - Videos/interaction

  • Choosing your behaviours - Videos/interaction

  • The importance of teamwork (including a fun exercise)

  • How mentally tough are you - Look at commitment, confidence, courage and control

  • Looking further into Non-Verbal clues including mirroring, tone and pace. (includes role plays (mock interviews) around positive/negative body language)

  • Social media - Video

  • Working ethics including appearance, attendance and respect

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Time management skills

  • Communication skills - Expectations, what's acceptable/what's not

The delivery will include videos, role plays and group exercises but will mainly be driven by the expectation and input of the pupils. We have found this workshop to be very supportive in the preparation of the workplace and to encourage those harder to reach pupils in motivating them to take that next step, or to reflect on their future.
